About the Brain & its’ Functions

  • This lobe is located between the frontal and occipital lobes, with the temporal lobes on each side (shown above in blue) and is involved with:
    • The sensory skills
    • It integrates different types of sensory information
    • Particularly useful in the spatial processing and navigation.
    • It involves integrating sensory stimuli from different parts of the body including the sensation of touch
    • Surprisingly it is also involved in understanding numbers - particularly the left parietal lobe
    • It is also involved in our ability to manipulate objects
    • It also is made up of the somatosensory cortex and is part of the visual system.
    • The parietal lobe is important for visual and language processing.
    • The right lobe is designed to process images

  • Found at the back of the head (shown above in aqua) it is responsible for:
    • The visual cortex
    • Visual processing
    • Different parts of the occipital lobe work on different parts of visual processing, such as colour discrimination, movement and perception
    • Damage to this area can cause blindness

  • The Temporal Lobe (shown above in pink) is involved with:
    • Short and long term memories
    • Auditory processing
    • Emotional responses
    • Biological drives, such as aggression and sexuality
Other aspects of the temporal lobe include:
    • It contains the hippocampus - which is the memory centre of the brain - this part of the brain plays a role in long term memories which are emotion-laden based on input from the amygdala.
    • The left temporal lobe contains the primary auditory cortex
    • The second largest lobe and found behind our ears
Trouble with this lobe can show up as:
    • Selective attention to what we see and hear
    • Difficulty learning and retaining new information
    • Persistent talking
☼ Often after I have done my energy healing, people feel calmer and find that their emotional attachment to past situations changes. It is no longer charged emotionally like it was.

  • The Frontal Lobe (shown above in turquoise) controls:

    • Voluntary movement - motor function
    • Expressive language
    • Problem Solving
    • Memory
    • Judgement
    • Impulse control
    • Social and sexual behaviour
When there is a problem with this area it may show up as:
    • Speech problems
    • Changes in personality
    • Issues with co-ordination
☼ In my healing modalities - I work with all the lobes of the brain to have them functioning at their best.
